'Bluff Hill Point' Original Paint

Bluff Hill Point is one of my favourite places tucked away on Tasmania’s wild and remote northwest coast, as west as west goes!

Located 9 kms north of Arthur River, the coastline here is very wild and exposed, shaped by the Southern Ocean and battered by the powerful Roaring Forties, with enormous rocky formations and sweeping ocean views. The distinctive unmanned Bluff Hill Point Lighthouse was built in 1982 to replace the old West Point Lighthouse, which had stood further north since 1916.

I’ve been lucky enough to spend time there over the years, camping, wandering the beaches covered in bull kelp- which stinks by the way, but is still very cool. I enjoyed climbing all over those amazing Jurassic-looking rocks, definitely twisting my ankle a few times in the process but totally worth it!
I even stood on top of the little orange brick building beside the lighthouse, using the back of the ute tray to get up there - what an amazing view - it really does feel like you’re standing on the edge of the world!

I love how untouched and non-commercial it is. There aren’t many facilities or attractions out there and you may need a 4wheel drive to reach some areas, but that’s all part of its beauty - I love the simplicity of it. Buff Hill Point is already a work of art within itself. I just wanted to capture a little piece of it in my own way and I’m really happy with how this one came together.
