'Beyond The Grave' is an original artwork created by the artist Kataraina Koroheke in 2024. Size: 130cm x 100cm ( including frame ) Medium: Acrylic paint and modelling plaster on canvas Since moving to Evandale, my partner and I have been enjoying scenic drives to Deddington, where we visited John Glover's final resting place at the Nile Chapel. We even brought our beloved pet sheep Gerald with us on one occasion as we believe he was born in that area. Despite the beautiful Tasmanian landscape, John Glover's grave site appeared lonely and neglected, overgrown with grass and weeds. Motivated by this, I aim to visually represent his burial site and create an immersive experience for viewers to step into his final resting place. It's essential for me to share the current state of Glover's grave with people and symbolically bring them closer to him. In tribute to John Glover, I have dedicated this painting to commemorate the 175th anniversary of his enduring artistic legacy since his passing.
